Happy New Year everyone!
I know that I have been missing in action lately, I have just been really busy and haven't even had a chance to think about my poor little blog.....but those days are hopefully behind me, and I hope to start posting more frequently again.
So as far as my hair goes, I have been experiencing a good amount of growth lately (see the pics below)..
As far a regimen and products that I have been using, I decided back in mid October to try something new. That something new was as follows:
Weekly or every 7-10 days
Pre-poo with olive oil and a cheapo conditioner
Remove shed hair and section into 4
Shampoo in 4 sections using the barrier method
Remove shed hair
Rinse with lukewarm water
Apply conditioner to each section
Detangle each section and subdivide 8 sections
Rinse with cold cold cold water
Air dry until about 75% dry
Apply leave-in(kimmaytube) to each section and either braid or twist
Twice a Month
Deep condition for 30 minutes under a hooded dryer
Nightly
Mist my hair with a combination of distilled water and a little bit of conditioner.
In doing the stuff above, what I have noticed is that I'm not losing a lot of hair, my hair is retaining length, and it is staying moisturized. I haven't posted a length check since September, but I will be soon which should show even more the growth/length retention.
As for my hair resolutions for 2011, I would like to see my hair grow at least 4-6 inches this year, I plan to keep up with my regimen, and to drink more water and eat better. What are some of your hair resolutions for this year?

With the winter season vastly approaching, the talk about protective styling in the natural community is increasing. For the newbies, protective styling is essentially a way that you style your hair with the intent of protecting it from, lets just say the elements. There are many different types of protective styles, from braids (with your hair or adding hair), twists, wigs, buns, etc. The overall goal with protective styling is little to no manipulation, and making sure that you guard your ends.
